turntable animations

For some reason, maya will not let me render an animation in either quick time or avi format even though I have installed the codecs for both the formats. There is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't let me do this except if there is a bug in the software either way I have submitted a bug report to auto desk, but I don't expect them to solve this issue any time soon though. There fore I have rendered the turntables in png formats and imported them to adobe premier, so I could export them as a quick time movie.

creating wire frame clay renders

In the process of rendering out some wire frame clay renders for the show reel. I am pretty sure maya is capable of creating wire frame clay renders of character yet I find 3ds Max to be a lot easier and more efficient for creating clay renders, mainly because the composite material in 3ds max is so easy to set up. That does not mean in any way that I don't like maya, in fact, I think they are both great softwares. They both have their pros and cons, it is how you know which tools to utilise for a certain task that makes these tools great.
This brings me to another point, and that is the knowledge of multiple 3d applications. I know some people who argue for one's superiority over the other and refuse to learn any other application than the one they consider to be superior but the fact of the matter is that certain 3d software will always be better at certain tasks than other applications. And by not learning more than one application the artist is really depriving himself of that useful knowledge that may come in handy at any time and may even prove to be pivotal to the completion of a project.

So I say rather than arguing that maya is superior to max or vice versa why not learn both, right.
The more knowledge is always better than limited knowledge.

The reason.

sumo

Apologies for not posting for a while.

I just finished working on the sumo character for my advance modeling and animation module. I am planning on creating a turntable of the model in Vray for my show reel in the meantime here are the two rendered images of the model.

Oh and am almost just about done with the website in dreamweaver hopefully if all goes according to plan, the site should be online in the next week or two.

PHP is proving to be a real pain to learn, at least I don't have to pay anyone for building the website.

online portfolio

Hi,

Online portfolio is one of the most effective ways of promoting one's self as an artist.
Though there are many portfolio websites available on the web. However, its a good idea to have your own domain and use the forums to generate traffic to you own website.

And with that in mind i bought a domain name ''www.abu-h-a.com''.

I will be doing some skectes/concept for my website layout and the navigation system before I actually start building the site.

So on to dreamweaver

Exit plan

High level Exit plan

The most important thing for any Artist is self promotion be he a traditional artist promoting his self through galleries or a 3D Artist who’s main medium of self promotion is through online forums. How ever there are many other methods of self promotion available other than the net. Here I will be listing a couple of ways in which I intend to promote my Artwork both in the world of online computing and national/international festivals.

    *

Connections:- merely creating a portfolio and putting it online, while a great thing in itself. however, it will not get me a Job if there are no potential employers to look at it. One of the ways in which I will attract employers to my website will be through entering competitions, such as the ''dominance war''' held by the CG Society and many other online competitions held by websites such as ''3DTOTAL.COM''

    *

3D MAGAZINE:- I am working on a piece of art work which I will be submitting to the ''3DWORLD'' Magazine.
    *

Online Forums:- one of the best ways I think to promote one's self as a 3DARTIST is to show off your best work in online forums such as ''society'' which is the nets largest Digital Art forum. This method is very effective as it serves as a means through which one can generate traffic to his own website, the downside is that it is not free. However, the fee is worth the result.
